I had my 2nd OB appointment and met my new doctor (previously had only met with a nurse practitioner). There are 24 OBs at the clinic, and they rotate two-at-a-time for on-call shifts, so I may not have her for my actual delivery, but I liked her off the get-go.
She recommended an early ultrasound so I am now scheduled for Oct 3 and Oct 31 ultrasounds. This first ultrasound (limited) will help better determine my estimated due date. Right now, I am somewhere in the 14th week range, with a due date of March 28, but we think that is early. It will be nice to have a better idea. The later 18-20 week ultrasound will hopefully reveal the baby's gender. Perhaps, a pink or blue Halloween costume is in order??
Baby's heartbeat is strong and well. The doctor said the baby is moving around quite a bit, which is good. She thinks it is a boy, but that's not based on anything. Lately, we think it's a girl, but again, that's not based on anything. We have a girl's name that we like, but still thinking about boys.
I am not as tired as a few weeks ago, but still need regular naps. Everyone keeps saying that I'll have more energy in the 2nd trimester, so that's welcome news. Surprisingly, I didn't gain any weight between my 1st visit and 2nd visit, though my belly is definitely growing. All-in-all, can't complain about how I've been feeling and my blood work, etc. has been very good. I'm still eating mostly vegetarian, but starting to eat a little bit of meat now and again.
